As the fourth track and field athlete to qualify, Querinjean received official confirmation from the Luxembourg Olympic and Sports Committee (COSL) that he will be competing in the 3000m steeplechase in Paris.
Week after week, Querinjean chipped away at the national record for the 3000m steeplechase. His remarkable time of 8:18.82 minutes at the National Championships in June, earned him valuable points, placing him at 38th in the Olympic rankings. Although he narrowly missed direct qualification, the World Athletics organization announced on Friday evening that Querinjean would join the Paris Olympics as a replacement athlete.
